Creating a Better Version of Yourself

August 8, 2017

I will never forget the year 2016, especially from September to December. You might be wondering why. The reason that I will not forget those months is because I randomly decided to do an academic exchange in China for these 4 months!. It was super special for me because I got to learn a bit of Mandarin, visited historic sites, met many fascinating people and enjoyed the food. Overall, I would like to say that it helped me develop as an individual.

In this blog, I will share a few tips with you on how to create the best version of yourself:

1. Try learning something new every month

We have a countless amount of resources that can help us expand our knowledge. I can list 10 great websites, no problem. Let me share my personal goal for the summer. I am a tech enthusiast, so this summer I am learning how to use Java's programming language. The more you learn, the more interesting you become. It can be something simple, like learning how to play chess or learning a new sport. It can also be something a little more complex, like learning how to use excel or learning how to play an instrument. The goal here is to constantly look for ways to upgrade your skills.

2. Step out of your comfort zone

Stepping out of your comfort zone can be daunting, but it does have its rewards. A good way to do this is to try something that you have never tried before. It can be very simple, such as trying a food that you don't think you would like. China was a huge step out of my comfort zone and that is why I decided to do it. Before I went to China, I was not very open towards many thing's, such as travelling and trying new foods. Whenever I look back at my experience, I feel accomplished because it is not easy to go to a country that has a completely different language and culture.

3. Picking up a new habit

We all have a few bad habits we can think of. The goal is to improve on those bad habits and develop some good habits that can be beneficial to your personal and professional life. You also have to make sure that your habits do not over rule you. Try picking up a new habit that can help you develop further in your career. Good habits make you who you are, they basically set the foundation for your life.

I hope you can take something from this post and apply it to your life! Thanks for reading
